This report presents the results of a study to investigate the feasibility of utility-scale wind energy development in the waters offshore of New Jersey. The only viable opportunities for significant large-scale wind development in NJ are considered to be offshore where the wind resources are much stronger and where certain land use conflicts can be avoided. The study focus area stretches from Sandy Hook to Egg Island Point in the Delaware Bay, extending 20 miles from shore. The goal of the feasibility study is to characterize the siting considerations (including various geophysical, environmental, regulatory, and commercial parameters) that offshore wind energy development will have to address if it is seriously pursued in NJ.
