This report proposes to quantify the use of Phragmites Australis (common reed) habitat by resident nekton in two tidal marshes of the lower Hudson River Estuary. Additionally, this report relates habitat use to hydrogeomorphic characteristics (flooding regime) within and among P. australis and non-P. australis stands. Its authors hypothesize that hydrogeomorphic variables will have a dominant influence on patterns of habitat use by marshresident nekton. "Appendix One" of this report explores patterns of habitat utilization by resident nekton in Phragmites and typha marshes of the Hudson River Estuary."Funding for this work was provided by the Hudson River Research Grant Program of the Hudson River Foundation.
