Lower Passaic River Restoration Project / Newark Bay Study: Draft Community Involvement Plan (CIP)

The Lower Passaic River is a 17-mile tidal stretch from the Dundee Dam to the river mouth at Newark Bay. The river has a long history of industrialization, resulting in degraded water quality, contamination, wetland loss, and abandoned properties along the shore. The goal of the Lower Passaic River Restoration Project is to develop a plan to improve water quality, remediate the sediments and restore the ecological health of the Lower Passaic River. This is a draft of a Community Involvement Plan (CIP), which contains charts and graphics to enable the reader to see at a glance project activities and opportunities for public involvement. The CIP is divided into two parts to help the reader to go directly to the sections of greatest interest. Part 1 includes: Overview, Project Background, Project Activities, and Community Profile. Part 2 is the action plan and includes: History of Community Involvement, Key Community Concerns, Communication Goals, Community Involvement Tools and Outreach Activities, and Evaluation of Community Involvement and Outreach.
