New Jersey school mental health practitioners (school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and student assistance professionals) completed a survey regarding their role in the provision of school-based mental health services (SBMHS). Participants were recruited from a convenience sample of members of state professional organizations representing each of the four disciplines. A web-based survey was utilized to obtain information on barriers and facilitators to involvement in SBMHS, perspectives on training and professional development, the type of referrals practitioners receive, the type of services provided and practitioners’ views concerning the quality of school-based mental health practice.
