Add to ORKGThe Adoration of the Magi was a very popular religious theme during the Italian Renaissance. This work was commissioned by Gasparre di Zenobi del Lama, a banker connected to the house of Medici. In the biblical scene, three members of the de' Medici family are portrayed as magi; all of them were dead at the time the picture was painted. The patron of the work is portrayed as an old man pointing at the observer with his right hand. Botticelli's self-portrait may be the figure on the far right. The painting is currently kept in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence
