This photograph depicts part of the military division of the Egg Harbor City Military and Firemen's parade, which was held July 11, 1955. The marchers were from the combined color guards of the Victor McAnney Post 5341, VFW and the Rudolph Elmer Post 158, American Legion. According to a newspaper article, "a block long mass of colors" followed the marchers in this picture, creating "an impressive sight." Various VFW and American Legion Posts were included in this division of the parade. The Military and Firemen's parade was significant because it was the first of two parades scheduled for the Egg Harbor Centennial celebration.
