In parts of the Bavarian Alps there exists glacial overdeepening along valley axes. This overdeepening is found on soft rocks; it also can be found in hard rocks with intensive jointing. Glacial overdeepening is mostly about 200 to 300 m related to valley floor; if there is additionally a confluence of two glaciers overdeepening is higher. The ridges at the end of overdeepening parts of a valley are near valley floor up to a depth of l50 m. Glacial overdeepening was the highest during Riss-glaciation
