Removal of RNA by heat treatment - I. Elaboration of a standard procedure for Alcaligenes eutrophus H 16.

A procedure was developed for the removal of RNA from cells of Alcaligenes eutrophus H 16 based on a heat shock treatment. After a heat shock of 10 s to 10 min at 65°C the cellular RNA was degraded and the degradation products were released into the suspending fluid. Almost complete degradation of RNA was accomplished during a 2 h incubation period at 50 to 55°C. © 1976 Springer-Verlag
