The annual radiation dose absorbed by about 1000 radiologists and their assistants who had been working only with diagnostic radiation, was assessed to within very small doses. About 50% of those working with diagnostic radiation had annual doses of more than 12 mrem. Only about 4% of all those working with radiological diagnosis were exposed to doses of > 500 mrem/year, i.e., to more than one tenth of the acceptable annual dose of 5 rem. The dose of 5 rem was exceeded in under 0.5% of cases in 1972, out of about 20,000 people. The dose graph approximates fairly closely to a straight line, i.e. the frequency distribution corresponds to a logarithmic normal distribution.
