Two plays were direct at Felten-Start theatre, Moon Over Buffalo and It Runs In the Family to study different leadership styles as they were applied to the directing process. Records of the nightly rehearsals were kept as a reference tool. A major determinant of which leadership style was used depended on the experience level of the group. The less experienced the cast, the more autocratic directing method was needed. More mature and experienced groups retained their focus, which led to a more comfortable setting. This relaxed atmosphere offered more opportunities to sue democratic and laissez-faire leadership methods. This allowed for better communication
