The purpose of this study was to investigate the validity of the anxiety and hostility variables on the Holtzman Inkblot Test (HIT). The two variables, anxiety and hostility, which were under investigation in this study, draw much of their content and structure from the Rorschach Inkblot Test, a test for which validity has never been completely established, These two particular variables are especially difficult to validate for two reasons: 1) It is extremely difficult to compose a definition for “anxiety” or “hostility” which will allow for generalization to other situations, and; 2) Since it is necessary to use volunteer subjects for such a study it is therefore difficult to determine the extent of their anxiety or hostility, or to tell w...
