The purpose of this review of literature is to examine the effects of caffeine on college students’ health and how the daily consumption of caffeine can impact a student’s overall GPA. Caffeine is a crystalline compound that can be found in most products today, especially coffee, that stimulates the body’s central nervous system (CNS). Through several studies, there has been observation of the negative effects of caffeine, such as sleep deprivation, caffeine intoxication, and caffeine withdrawal once it is no longer ingested daily.
