We collected soil from Campion Park in Spokane, WA to perform an unconfined compressive strength test according to ASTM standard D-2166. Campion Park is located on an active floodplain of Latah Creek that shows recent signs of flooding through vegetation behavior and fine sediment deposits. According to the Unified Soil Classification System, our soil sample is a sandy silt with 30 percent being classified as fine material and 70 percent as sand. The Unconfined Compressive Strength test allowed us to determine strain behavior of soil from applied compressive stress and identifies yield strength and ultimate strength.
