With over 33,000 different denominations within the Catholic and Protestant branches of Christianity, the church today is rather divided. In Latin America, there is an especially large separation between the Catholic and Protestant churches, which separates rather than unifies the entire body of Christ. This paper will first look at the impact of Vatican II on both the Protestant and Catholic church specifically in Latin America and then will proceed to analyze the current state and function of both the Catholic and Protestant Churches in Latin America, focusing specifically on root of the cause driving the two churches from working together.
