This collection consists of a booklet titles, Artificial Limbs for Confederate Soldiers, by Patrick McCawley. The booklet describes South Carolina\u27s efforts to supply artificial limbs to injured Confederate veterans following the conclusion of the American Civil War. Included is an index of state records at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History that document the numerous applications for artificial limbs from Confederate Veterans from 1867-1909. The index lists the soldiers names who applied and where their files are located.
