In 1943, Dean of the College, Mowat G. Fraser was named Winthrop Interim President when Dr. Shelton Phelps was forced resign due to health concerns in 1943. Fraser would serve as Winthrop Interim President until Henry Radcliffe Sims was hired in 1944 as Winthrop\u27s fourth President. Fraser worked at Winthrop from 1939-1946.
