In a typical, episodic, part-set cueing experiment, participants are given information to remember (e.g., 30 words) and then, after little or no delay, they are asked to remember that information either in the presence or absence of part-set cues. In free recall, as the number of cues increases, performance on the remaining items decreases (part-set cueing impairment). In contrast to these findings, preliminary results suggest that performance increases as the number of cues increases when tested with a reconstruction of order task (part-set cueing facilitation).
