A good portion of computer vision research is aimed at achieving the functionality of human vision with camera-computer integration. However, the traditional cameras that model human eyes inherit the innate shortcomings of human eyes. One of the most important shortcomings is narrow field of view. Recent research has focused on overcoming these spatial “blind-spots” to achieve even greater functionality than human eyes. This thesis introduces a series of new devices and algorithms to extend the camera capabilities beyond normal human eyes.
