Suicide is a leading cause of death in the United States. College students have increased exposure to suicidal ideation and deaths by suicide and may experience suicidal ideation as a means of escape from emotional pain or from severe psychopathology. There are a number of risk factors that are present which make a person more susceptible to dying by suicide. One of those risk factors is past exposure to suicide.
