The image shows a crowd gathered on Sunday morning, November 24, 1963, on the west side of Houston Street, reacting to the news that suspect Lee Harvey Oswald had been shot. Oswald was to be transferred from the city jail on the east side of downtown Dallas, to the county jail, which is located on the west side, bordering Dealey Plaza. As he was being escorted to the transport vehicle, Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby
