The main purpose of this study is to address the changes in the macroeconomic indicators throughout the Ozal period in Turkey. For this purpose, it is aimed to compare the performance of main macroeconomic indicators -including but not limited to GDP, investment, inflation, unemployment, current account balance, foreign debt stock, foreign direct investment inflows- with the world average and developed countries’ averages. Even though Turgut Ozal's period is considered as the years between 1984 and 1988 in most of the studies, the period between 1980 and 1989 will also be discussed in this study as the latter period includes major political and economic development in the Turkish economy
