Sprinkler irrigation systems distribute water by spraying it over the fields. The water is piped under pressure to the fields. The pressure forces the water through sprinklers or through perforations or nozzles in pipelines and thus forms a spray. Sprinkling is man's imitation of natural rainfall. Nearly all irrigable soils can be sprinkler irrigated. It is difficult, however, to sprinkler-irrigate if the water intake rate of your soil is less than 0.10 inch per hour
