L’article examine la fonction des manuels pour l’établissement de la psychiatrie clinique dans l’espace germanophone (1875-1900). Il montre que les acteurs ont attribué à ces textes une fonction épistémique importante pour la formation d’un regard clinique. C’est pourquoi les psychiatres comme Emil Kraepelin se sont consacrés aussi au remaniement des manuels.
