Karia: A Case Study

We are used to thinking of Karia in southwestern Asia Minor as a separate and identifiable region within the western Anatolian world. Regional scholarship organizes itself around this concept, and can point to ancient sources like Homer or Herodotos as evidence that the Greeks too saw this space this same way.
