Antibody-based therapeutics continue to be a fast growing field in pharmaceutics due to their increased selectivity for a specific target over small molecule drugs. Antibody solutions are often formulated at high protein concentrations in order to achieve low injection volumes, especially for subcutaneous administration, which can cause many challenging problems when it comes to stabilization. The instability of antibodies can often lead to aggregation which can occur during many parts of the manufacturing process including purification, fill-finish, shipping and storage. Aggregation of antibodies can cause many problems such as not injecting the proper dose, due to a decrease in the protein’s concentration, or causing immunogenic responses...
