The behavior of the mortar constituent of concrete under cyclic compression was studied and a simple analytical model was developed to represent its cyclic behavior. The experimenta 1 work consisted of monotonic and cyclic compressive loading of mortar. Two mixes were used, with proportions corresponding to concretes with water-cement ratios of 0.5 and 0.6. Forty-four groups of specimens were tested at ages ranging from 5 to 7 days. Complete monotonic and cyclic stress-strain envelopes were obtained.
