Role of GDF-15 (growth differentiation factor 15) in the progression of atherosclerosis in apoE deficient mice

Growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) is a member of the TGF-beta superfamily as well as an important regulator of proliferation, differentiation and inflammatory processes and is found in macrophages of human atherosclerotic plaque. Hence the goal of the study was to investigate the effect of GDF-15 in the development and progression of atherosclerosis in apoE deficient (apoE-/-) mice
