Thérapie motrice par contrainte induite et motivation de l'enfant : un enjeu de l'ergothérapeute

Introduction: The Constraint-Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) based on the phenomenon of cortical reorganization, is a specific technique of hemiplegia rehabilitation. This method aims to immobilize the healthy limb to optimise the use of the injured one. Currently used in paediatrics, constraint induced movement therapy remains nevertheless constraining and can impact the child’s motivation. The aim of this study was to point out the means set up by occupational therapists to promote the motivation of children with an infantile hemiplegia in a constraint-induced movement therapy.Method: To answer the research question, a qualitative method was used. It relies on semi-structured interviews with three occupational therapists.Results: The use of fun activities, the importance of group and the occupational therapist's encouragement are components promoting in the motivation of the child.Conclusion: To promote the child's participation in constraint induced movement therapy, various means are to be developed by the occupational therapist to encourage the child's motivation.Introduction : La Thérapie par Contrainte Induite (TCI), basée sur le phénomène de réorganisation corticale, est une technique spécifique de rééducation de l’hémiplégie. Cette méthode vise à immobiliser le membre sain afin d’optimiser l’utilisation du membre lésé. Appliquée actuellement en pédiatrie, la thérapie par contrainte induite demeure néanmoins contraignante et peut impacter la motivation de l’enfant. Le but de cette étude était de spécifier les moyens mis en oeuvre par les ergothérapeutes afin d’encourager la motivation de l’enfant atteint d’hémiplégie cérébrale infantile au cours d’une thérapie par contrainte induite.Méthode: Afin de répondre à la question de recherche, une méthode qualitative a été utilisée. Elle s’appuie sur des entretiens semi-directifs auprès de trois ergothérapeutes.Résultats: L’utilisation d’activités ludiques, l’importance du groupe et la valorisation de l’ergothérapeute sont des éléments participant à la motivation de l’enfant.Conclusion: Afin de favoriser la participation de l’enfant à la thérapie par contrainte induite, divers moyens sont à développer par l’ergothérapeute afin de soutenir la motivation de l’enfant
