Purpose: The study aimed to describe students' attitudes towards human genome research and towards genetic counselling and testing at cancer patients. The background of this investigation provided the increasing relevance ob human genetics research for clinical practice.Methods: A total of 167 medical students (54% female, aged 24 +/- 2 years) from the second phase of their studies were surveyed in obligatory courses at the University of Leipzig, using a standardized questionnaire.
