Libraries and portals - a survey

Initially a definition of the term portal is given by which the main functionalities of portals are described. Furthermore a distinction is made between two different types of portals: a) Subject-oriented information portals and b) MyLibrary portals. The progress in this area and future tendencies are illustrated by various examples. This article focuses on the scientific context, public libraries are excluded.Ausgehend von einer Begriffsdefinition werden die wesentlichen Funktionalitäten von Portalen vorgestellt und anschließend zwei im bibliothekarischen Bereich wichtige Portaltypen besprochen. Es sind dies a) Fachinformationsportale und b) auf dem Konzept von MyLibrary basierende Bibliotheksportale. Ausgewählte Beispiele für beide Portaltypen illustrieren die bisherige Entwicklung und geben einen kurzen Ausblick auf künftige Tendenzen. Fokussiert wird dabei der wissenschaftliche Kontext, öffentliche Bibliotheken werden nicht berücksichtigt
