Medical Branch Library of the University & Regional Library Münster - local, online, and mobile

The Medical Branch Library is a subject library of the University and Regional Library Münster, and was founded in 1993 as the central medical library in the grounds of the University Hospital. Second only to the German National Library in Cologne, it is the largest medical library in North Rhine-Westphalia. The budget of the library derives mainly from the Medical Faculty. The funding from the university and from tuition fees is used to acquire textbooks. The physical library is used almost exclusively as a place of learning (by students), while the online presence mainly by researchers and physicians. The library offers since 1997 e-journals, since 2003 e-books and media for Smart Computers/Phones. It is using innovative ways for supplying journal articles, such as a virtual library budget and serving Subito for free.Die Zweigbibliothek Medizin ist eine Fachbereichsbibliothek der Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Münster und wurde 1993 als zentrale Medizinbibliothek auf dem Gelände des Universitätsklinikums gegründet. Sie ist nach der Deutschen Zentralbibliothek in Köln die größte Medizinbibliothek Nordrhein-Westfalens. Das Budget der Bibliothek stammt im Wesentlichen von der Medizinischen Fakultät. Aus Mitteln der Universität und Studiengebühren werden hauptsächlich Lehrbücher gekauft. Die Bibliothek selber wird heute fast ausschließlich als Lernort benutzt (von Studenten), während die Onlinepräsenz hauptsächlich Forscher und Ärzte anzieht. Seit 1997 werden e-Journals angeboten, seit 2003 e-Books und Medien für Smart Computer/Phones. Auf dem Gebiet der Versorgung mit Fachartikeln geht die Bibliothek mit dem virtuellen Bibliotheksetat und dem Service Subito-kostenfrei innovative Wege
