Silver bromide is the most important and widely used light-sensitive material in the commercial photographic industry. Spectral sensitizing dyes are applied on the AgBr emulsions to extend the photographic sensitivity of AgBr through the entire visible range. It is hoped that possible correlations between the ionic conductivity of the AgBr thin film and the optical absorption spectra for the dyes adsorbed on the film will provide a better understanding of photographic sensitizing effects, as well as the structural forms of adsorption and the interactions between the adsorbed dye molecules and the sub-surface space charges.
