The salivary gl and chromosomes of Drosophila melanogaster have been studied extensively to determine the physical end chemical structure of chromosomes end to determine the genetic significance of these structures. The purpose of this work is to stain these giant chromosomes in an attempt to demonstrate the structure of the interband regions with the consequent possibility of throwing new light on the genetic significance of these regions
