The Para-Fluoroaniline-Hexane System

The work reported in this paper is a further contribution to the general investigation of the solubility relations of fluorine-containing organic compounds that has been going on for many years. This class of compounds has held the attention of chemists for a long time because of the unusual and often unexpected properties which the fluorine atom gives to the molecule. It is desired to investigate the mutual solubilities of parafluoroaniline and the various isomers of hexane. In addition, it is desired to determine whether such a system will give a solubility curve showing a critical solution temperature. The earliest work along this line was done in 1917 by J. H. Hildebrand and his co-workers, when they examined the aniline-hexane system (10). The temperature versus mole fraction diagram of the system gave a consolute temperature in the neighborhood of 60 degrees centigrade
