This presentation was delivered at a Mapping Fundamentals workshop, which provided an introduction to mapping as a method for digital scholarship and research in the humanities and social sciences. Topics covered include: how humanists and social scientists use maps, mapping tools (GIS, web mapping, command line, and programming languages), finding data, and working with data (geocoding, georectifying, named entity extraction). It includes two interactive activities to 1.) explore existing mapping projects and 2.) apply mapping tools and methods to attendees\u27 projects and work
