Engineering of 3D scaffolds for tissue repair requires the ability to align cells to mimic cell orientations of native tissues. Our study focused on utilizing electrospinning technology to develop 3D nanofiber scaffolds whose alignment can be customized to mimic the microarchitecture of a tissue. Current electrospinning techniques have limited control of fiber orientation. We engineered a collection plate that can be adapted to produce 3D biomaterial scaffolds for use with commercially available electrospinning units.
