SFRP-1 (Secreted Frizzled Related Protein-1), an antagonist of the Wnt signaling pathway, has been implicated in the regulation of a wide variety of developmental signaling processes. The purpose of this project was to characterize the embryonic spatio-temporal expression of SFRP-1 during murine embryonic development. SFRP-1 is expressed in a number of different tissue and cell types, including cartilage (round proliferating chondrocytes) and bone (osteoblasts), suggesting that SFRP-1 may play an important role in the regulation of murine skeletal development
