The current state of food production both within the United States and around the world has left much to be desired with regard to both efficiency and end user cost. Furthermore the agricultural revolution that has allowed us to sustain the population, using just a fraction of the land that it had once relied upon, requires petrochemical fertilizers and machinery that depend upon oil both for its operation and in its production. Now that we have contaminated the land and oil prices are set to skyrocket, one must question the sustainability of our current food production methods. The goal of this experiment is not just to uncover the most efficient means of food production but also to further the development of a sustainable automated system...
