Ergonomic improvement of grinding fixture design

In order to maximize manufacturing worker comfort while at the same time maintaining worker productivity, the design for the grinding fixture in use at the Hookset, NH operations of GE Aircraft Engines had to become more ergonomic for use throughout the plant. In order to meet this criterion, this project group focused on subtle changes to the original design to engineer a new, more user-friendly design. A design with improved properties has been created. These characteristics include incorporating a less dense core material that maintains structural rigidity while simultaneously creating a lighter fixture. A new, ergonomic-minded cam clamping mechanism has also been implemented in the new design
