The London Borough of Merton\u27s Waste Service division sought to improve the kerbside recycling scheme currently in place for its residents. Using field studies, focus groups, and comparisons to other boroughs, we revealed the underlying reasons for low participation levels which allowed us to propose improvements to the programme. Increased participation will enable the borough to meet the demanding recycling standards set by the United Kingdom and the European Union
