Intimate Partner Violence

There is an overwhelming amount of research on men as the primary perpetrator of violence in intimate relationships. However, only a few studies address men as being the victim of violence. Utilizing secondary sources this research examines domestic violence, more specifically: physical, sexual, and psychological abuse for both females and men in intimate relationships. The paper additionally draws on theories such as, the feminist theory and social interaction theory to explain the causes of intimate partner violence. Based on secondary sources, the results showed that women are more likely to be the victim of physical violence and sexual abuse, while men are more likely to be the victim of psychological abuse
