En el registro fósil encontramos una serie de morfologías, cuyo origen sólo puede ser inferido a partir de los estudios ontogenéticos actualistas. De este modo, la comprensión de los procesos del desarrollo y el patrón que generan en las plantas es de suma importancia para la Paleobotánica. En este trabajo, se presenta la relación que existe entre los procesos del desarrollo y los diversos patrones observados en el crecimiento secundario de las plantas fósiles.
