Do Social Media Reduce Sociability?

In this research I will analyze what types of social media individuals use in daily life, and how social media can affect their sociability, social life, and interaction with other people. In the twenty first century, some parts of the world have become modernized by the use of the internet. Many people are constant users of multiple internet sites which involve social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat etc. These popular media sites have been growing over the past few years and it has encouraged many new users to constantly socialize with others without any face to face interaction. For example, Ruth F. Hunter conducted a research in 2015, presenting how social network changes behavior activities (Hunter 2015). They found that social networks was identified as the mediator. In another research called,Factors affecting social Interaction on Social network sites, Ander Maiz’s study analyzed the factors that affect social interaction among people (Maiz 2016). The hypotheses I will try to test are those who use social media sites more often are more likely to be less sociable than those who do not use social media sites. Second hypothesis is those who use social media sites more often are more likely to have health issues than those who do not use social media sites. For the analysis I will use quantitative methods to test my hypotheses and all of the data are collected by the General Social Survey in 2016
