The researcher looked at how both a traditional (lecture) and a non-traditional (discovery) teaching method effects student interest in economics at Sunset High School in Beaverton, Oregon. A review of literature on high school economics, teaching methods, and teaching methods in high school economics was undertaken. The researcher used a quasi-experimental design to observe the student interest 10 economics given the traditional and non-traditional teaching methods. The collected data was analyzed for tests of statistical significance. The study discovered significant differences between the means of the responses concerning the lecture and discovery methods. The researcher also recommended future studies
