At-risk students are prevalent in every classroom today. Unfortunately, these students are often forgotten in the classroom setting. This paper discusses the current literature pertaining to at-risk students common characteristics and the teaching strategies proven to help at-risk students succeed. The study was conducted in a small, rural school of approximately 350 students. The research questions were concerned with determining any teaching strategies used for at-risk students and the Interactions of at-risk students within the classroom environment.
