The purpose of this study is to examine the mainstreaming of English as a Second Language students into English-only classrooms. The focus of my research is an examination of how mainstreamed classrooms look, how teachers help foster - student success, and how the effects of mainstreaming are perceived by those teachers. One of the most surprising, and exciting, aspects of this study was finding that students are being mainstreamed in such a way as to make the differentiation between students that have gone through the ESL programs and those that have English as their primary language nonexistent. Both sets of students are being treated according to need, regardless of when and how they originally learned the English language
