Educators have the awesome opportunity to teach students how to be successful problem solvers. Unfortunately, in an effort to create the perfect student, some teachers overwhelm students with rote learning and memorization, particularly in mathematics instruction. This may cause the student to lose interest in mathematics because it is no longer attractive to them.
