In this chapter we discuss to which extent the GRID instrument allows to study the meaning of emotion terms from multidisciplinary perspectives and multiple theoretical approaches. First the GRID instrument is evaluated as an assessment tool in terms of reliability and validity. Then the consequences of the findings for the componential, the dimensional, and the basic emotion approaches in psychology are considered. Subsequently we examine how the overall structural similarities across cultural and linguistic groups can function as a tertium comparationis to study differences in specific emotion terms and features.
