Background: The early years have been identified as a critical period during which sedentary habits may be established, as this behavior appears to track throughout life. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review and meta‐analysis is to summarize the current literature on the prevalence of sedentary behavior in children aged 1‐5.99 years, reporting differences between boys and girls, weekdays and weekend days, childcare hours and nonchildcare hours, and between time spent indoors and outdoors while children attended childcare.
