Digital lock, unlocked by code displayed on the smartphone

Locks represent security of our home, possessions and ourselves. While times and technology change locks also have to improve and change. Electrically operated locks were a step up in security from mechanically operated locks. The objective of this thesis was to create and build a digital lock. Before building a digital lock it was important to analyze already existing products. Analysis had to understand the products in depth and to ensure that the same product was not already created. While analyzing the shortcomings of products it was checked the present product could fix these problems. Already existing products will not only be analyzed but also parts used in prototype will be analyzed. Knowing part limits and details are essential to any new product creation. The prototype of a single digital lock was successful. The created digital lock was functional. The lock has multifactor authentication and custom smart phone app. Multifactor authentication increased security significantly compared to other locks. The smart phone app implementation allowed generating a random keypad template and assigning keypad buttons to random values. Random keypad template decreases need for complex passwords and increases security
